Get to know Villa St. Benedict

Villa St. Benedict Building

Villa St. Benedict is a boutique senior living community in Lisle.

While there are similar communities in the area, Villa St. Benedict's history and spirit make it one of a kind and a hidden gem in the western Chicago suburbs. Some of its other accolades include being faith based and a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization.

Today, the campus has 47 lush acres, part of the original parcel of 500 acres purchased and still occupied by the Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart since 1912. The heart of the community is the Sacred Heart Chapel, adorned with stained glass windows, an original Baldachino altar finished in ivory and stunning life-sized statues. The building has seen many occupants and additions, hosting a girl's academy for over 30 years and then welcoming senior residents in 1987. The main independent living building, the Villa Center, was the final addition in 2005, along with the villa homes located on the rolling grounds. The Sisters and a joint sponsorship with Benedictine Health System made it all a reality.

A beautiful setting is not all that the Sisters created for the now senior residents. They established a spirit of love and care that encompasses the daily tasks, communication and lifestyle of all Villa St. Benedict staff and policies. The Benedictine Core Values of hospitality, respect, stewardship and justice are the foundation, while the Sisters' mission of hospitality complements those values. Residents and staff consider each other family at Villa St. Benedict. The staff turn-over is very low and their open-door policy leads to many shared moments and beautiful friendships.

The Villa St. Benedict campus offers independent living as well as comprehensive health care and wellness services. Independent residences include a choice of spacious two bedroom/two bath villa homes with attached garages or various sizes of apartments throughout the Villa Center. All utilities are included and weekly housekeeping and outdoor maintenance help to provide a carefree lifestyle. Studio, one and two bedroom assisted living apartments and a specialized memory care unit are located in Benedale Center.

When it comes to activities, there's never a dull moment. Take a balance class at the fitness center, join a book club or jump on the bus for an outing to a local concert. Certified trainers are on staff to teach chair chi or laughter yoga. Onsite classes are often offered through both Benedictine University and the College of DuPage. Attend daily Mass or enjoy a peaceful, serene landscape to feed the spirit. Sit on a park bench and take in the beauty of the grotto, patterned after the original in Lourdes, France.

Residents can also enjoy many fine amenities including three dining venues, salon, library, and more. Call a sales counselor at 630-852-0345 to arrange a tour or find out more by visiting villastben.org.
